The fall! I felt always so depressed when this season had begun. My calendar showed the first fall day and I saw only a cold weather, rain, mud, short days and ignored, how pretty can the fall be. I´ve slowly started to like it and have changed my mind. Instead of just surviving the fall season, I'm trying to enjoy it.
And rose hips! Our neighborhood is red during the fall. Last year, we made a syrup from rose hips with Ella. This year, we put them in a vase and made a fall wreath.
Ella is at the age when she plays fictional stories in her mind. So in the forest, we build plenty of houses for elves and bugs not to be frozen in the winter. It takes me back to my childhood. And not only me, my parents are joining us. We all have so much fun.
There is a big conker tree a street far from our house with plenty of chestnuts each year. There are not too many children in the neighborhood, so almost all chestnuts are ours. Searching for them in the grass and under the leaves is like searching for a treasure. We do not know than what to do with all the chestnuts. Ella brought a basket full of chestnuts to children in her nursery school that they could make animals from it.
We do a pumpkin pie every year. The recipes is very easy and the pie so tasty. If you wanna try, follow the recipes: Ingredients for the filling: 400g pumpkin, 1 apple, lemon zest and juice, cinnamon, sugar. Cook the pumpkin and apple, make puree, add the rest of ingredients according to your taste. Ingredients for pastry: 225g plain flour, 135g unsalted butter, 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, 3 tablespoons water, 3 tablespoons sugar. Preheat owen to 180C and bake it for 35 minutes until golden.
We ususally fly a kite, when there is no wind. :-) We are lucky that Ella does not care. She is happy when the kite flies just a bit off the ground. She made two kites in the nursery school and takes care of them very seriously.
Me and Ella have a big respect to horses. I have never dreamed about riding a horse and either did Ella. But this fall, she joined her friend Elen for a ride on a pony and she seemed to like it. But I was told, it is not necessary to ride once again. :-) But she fell in love with the horses in the corral. When your child wants to ride a horse, I recommend the riding school at the castle Ctenice in Prague 9 - Vinor.
Sometimes changing your mind makes you feel better. And I'm glad I´ve changed months of darkness for months of lights in my head. Our fall shines not only during the day, but also in the evening when we light a candle in the pumpkin in October, in lanterns in November for those who aren´t here with us physically, but never left us, and in December the candle reminds us that something magical will happen ... for sure from Ella´s point of view, me and Michal will take care of it.
