I took my very first test ride on electric bike Ghost TERU 2 for the Czech edition of Electric Bike Action magazine at snowy Bohemian region - Kokořínsko. You will find more information of the trail together with photos inside today´s post. I was surprised how great the ride was and I look forward to the next one!
I love traveling. Whether abroad or in the Czech Republic. Since we have a daughter, we travel around our homeland more often and usually on bike. I am not trained, biking is just my hobby. And it corresponds to my selection of locations I choose. I hate hills. I do not want to sweat blood on every hill and push my bike to the finish. I cannot compete with Michal at all! I want to ride my bike for fun and to enjoy the nature around. I dream about visiting all places in the Czech Republic with my daughter and Michal on bike. For a long time it seemed impossible as the country is quite hilly.
But nothing is lost! This year my dream could come thru! Thanks to an electric bike! I look forward like a little girl to enjoy the ride just the way I like and I have already thousand ideas on where to go. I might keep the pace with Michal and won´t give him a chance to make stops and relax during our ride. On the contrary, I also might chase him a little bit and see what his professional physicist really is. Because while I always went almost nonstop, he made stops waiting for me. Once he saw me, he continued the ride and I had no chance to stop and rest. That will change. Perhaps.
I have an excelent electric bike Ghost TERU 2 and I don´t want to wait for the spring. It was snowing overnight and 20 cm of fresh snow surprised us in the morning. The temperature dropped to -5 degrees Celsius and we went to the Bohemiam region - Kokořínsko for the first test ride. We left the car in the parking lot under the Kokořín castle and started in the village Kokořínský Důl. We followed the red tourist trail that along the Pšovka river to a rock formation Pokličky. The road was ok to the last house in the village. Than the trail was completely covered by the snow. When I saw Michal riding hard in the frozen snow, I started to doubt that it was a good idea to ride our bikes in such conditions. "Well, at least I am going to try," I said to myself, set the TOUR mode and breathlessly rode the electic bike into the snow, too. And believe it or not - I was riding easily! Indeed, without much effort, I caught up with Michal and after a while finally paved a trail in the snow by myself like there were no centimeters of frozen snow under me. The trail was completely covered by the snow but whether there were roots, or muddy places, the electric bike Ghost TERU 2 helped me to get off it. When we drove uphill in the snow, I set the SPORT mode and easily got up. Just once I shifted to TURBO mode, it was not necessary on today´s trip. The only problem I had was starting off in deep snow on a hill. When I stepped on the pedal, the electric bike did not start to ride smoothly, "kicked" me and thus I slipped.
We passed a couple of snowy weekend houses and reached the rock formation Pokličky. You have to use wooden stairs, if you want to see this sandstone treasure closer. The 12 meters high rock Pokličky looks like overgrown mushrooms and are created by erosion. As this process continues, we can expect that one day the rock will weaken so much and crash. After climbing up, you will see the first rock of this formation, whose hat has impressive dimensions of 6 x 5 x 1.5 meters.

Then we continued on the snowy forest trail and boardwalks above wetlands of Liběchovka and Pšovka rivers to the crossroad by Boudecký mlýn and then to Vojtěchov village. From Vojtěchov we drove down the road and the drift snow was the reward. I set the ECO mode and enjoyed the ride. The Stříbrník pond was covered by the ice and sparkeled in the sun, snowy willow on the shore looked like from a fairy tale.

In the village Ráj we turned left and followed the red tourist sign to the Farm Laka. That, in addition to the stabling of horses, offers rides on its temperate Hucul horses. The sun was shining and horses and sheeps happily run in the snow around. There was noone around, just the two of us - crazy people on bikes. Time pushed us, so although we had originally planned to get to the castle Houska, we had to return.
This time we rode on the road, which was covered by ice from Vojtěchov to our finish. Trees sag under the weight of snow and created endless white tunnel. Riding my electric bike on the road with no hills, I sometimes regretted the limit 25 km/ h, but the truth is that I will use the bike mainly in the hilly terrain and I won´t be able to reach that speed. During testing, we drove almost 22 kilometers and thanks to Ghost TERU 2 I first kept the pace with Michal. I am excited and looking forward to better weather that enables me to go to the mountains with Ella for a longer bike trip. And I am going to stick the Chariot carrier to my electric bike this time. So far it has been a privilege of Michal, so I wonder how it would be.
