Today we drove to the archaelogical area of Arzachena. It is interesting to its mysterious surroundings with lots of nuraghe and tombe dei giganti (Giants graves, ancient mass burial site).
Coddu Ecchju is one of the most significant Giant graves in Sardinia. Central oval stone of the tomb consists of two granite slabs built on each other. Carved frame of the door symbolizes an eternity and is closed to those who are alive. On both sides, there are more granite slabs representing the guard of the tomb.
Back to the coast. The rocky area near Palau waited for us, especially the most famous rock formation called Roccia dell'Orso (Bear Rock). Even when you come close, it is hard to recognize the head of a bear in it, but nevermind. It is beautiful and the view is breathtaking. You can see the sleepy town of Palau, which comes alive only in the morning when dozens of tourist boats depart for the islands of La Magdalena. We had a lunch there and headed to another famous beach Spiaggia Bianca.
