Do you know the Bohemian region Veseli nad Luznici? We didn´t till this summer! It is amazing. We love to explore our country on bikes and even here it was not different. If you love nature, ponds, woods, meadows, silence, South Bohemian architecture, we recommend the following bike trip.
We left our car at one of the parking lots in Veseli nad Luznici. Instead of visiting the town, we headed straight along Veselske piskovny ponds, great place for swimming in the summer, to the sand dune near Vlkov. So called Czech Sahara. It is a unique example of a windblown sand in the Czech Republic. We don´t see it as unique as it is presented, the area is very small. We enjoyed the tunnel from corn leading to the sand dune much more. But ok, the bike path leads around, so we stopped there.

We came here mainly to see ponds, so we followed the red signs to ponds system called Hope. It is the rarest natural reserve of Trebon region. It consists of ponds called Hope, Feat, Faith, Love and Good Will. And it's really beautiful. Ponds are separated only by dikes holded by oaks. It seems to be symbolic, when you see a tree half submerged in the water of the pond Hope. We spent a long time watching birds, jumping frogs and fishes.
Jemcina chateau was the next stop. You can take a guided tour there, or just have a snack and coffee. It is good to know that there are not many places, where you can buy something to eat and drink on the trail. So have some snack with you. Yellow bike trail continues in the woods to Karstejn and is surrounded by blueberries in the summer.

At a beautiful chapel, we turned left, past another pond and after a while, we came to Karstejn, former Fisherman's building and the old mill. This place is a paradise. The pond is lined with aging trees, many of them are decayed. The tree circuit is around six meters and several adults can easily get in.
Nezarka river was the next stop. You can have a drink there and watch people sailing down the water. Our car in Veseli nad Luznici is already few minutes faraway.
I would not believe, there was a place in Southern Bohemia with lack of tourists. And so close to Trebon… But trust me, we rode 43km on bike and met almost noone. Everytime I hear „Veseli nad Luznici“ now, I keep smiling. Because smile and good mood belongs to this part of Bohemia. So go for it!
